February Health Tip: Get Moving for Your Heart

By Jen Milquet, Wellness Coordinator

February is Heart Health Month, a great time to focus on movement that supports a strong, healthy heart. Regular physical activity helps improve circulation, manage stress, boost energy, and support overall wellness. The good news? You don’t need long workouts or a gym membership to make a difference—consistent, moderate movement is what matters most.
Starting small is the key to building a healthy habit. Short bursts of activity throughout the day—like walking, stretching, or light strength work—can add up quickly and still provide real heart benefits. The goal is simply to move more, sit less, and find activities you enjoy, so staying active feels realistic and sustainable. Starting anything is always the hardest step. To make that a bit easier, here is an easy exercise plan to get you started on a path to turning this into a healthy habit.

Heart-Friendly Starter Exercise Plan
Aim for 20–30 minutes of movement most days of the week
Week 1 – Build the Habit
Week 2 – Increase Intensity
Week 3 & Beyond – Keep It Going
Pro Tip: Break it up! Two 10-minute walks provide the same heart benefits as one 20-minute session.
Have a great and heart healthy February!
