At Woodside Senior Communities our vision is to enhance lives through a passion for wellness.  One of the ways we do this is through our Wellness Services programs.  Residents enjoy one-to-one personal training or group exercise classes with our professionally trained staff.  Classes include walking the Brown County nature trails, swimming at the Ashwaubenon Community Center, drumming sessions, kick boxing and so much more!

August Wellness Tip – Take Care of Your Feet!

Sometimes the solution to a sore back or joint problem can come from your feet! Wearing the correct shoes supports not only your feet, but also improves the alignment of your spine and reduces stress on your joints. Below are a few tips on how to choose a good shoe for you.

– Arch Support: Whether you have high, low, or neutral arches, you want to make sure that your shoes match the arches of your feet. Proper support is necessary to distribute weight evenly through your feet.

– Cushioning: If you are active or spend a lot of time on your feet, you want to make sure you select a shoe with adequate cushioning. The cushioning acts as a shock absorber, taking the impact off your feet and joints.

– Fit: You want to make sure your shoes are snug but not tight. There should still be room to wiggle your toes. If possible, try on shoes later in the day when your feet are at their largest.

– Activity: Make sure your shoes are appropriate for the activity you are doing. For example, wear running shoes for running, hiking shoes for trails, etc.

Incorporate these tips into your everyday life. Your feet will thank you!
